Application Questions

If you have a query that is not answered here, please call Natalie Byard on 0117 9027771 or email natalie.byard@burges-salmon.com

Q: Can I apply with a CV and covering letter?

No, we ask candidates to apply online via our website.

Q: I didn't achieve the results I expected for my A Levels/degree - does this mean I won't be considered for a Training Contract?

We require a 2:1 at degree level and 24/300 UCAS points.

If you did not achieve these results but you feel that you can offer something that will make your application stand out, then please apply and we will, of course, consider your application. You should be aware however, that competition is extremely fierce and you will be competing with candidates who have achieved the required standard.

Q: What if I want to update my form after I have submitted it?

If you wish to update your form (for example, if your contact details change), please contact us and we will be happy to make any necessary changes.

Q: Do you recruit candidates considering a change of career?

Yes, we recruit candidates from a wide range of backgrounds and a significant number of trainees join Burges Salmon after working in a different field.

Q: I didn't study law at university - does this matter?

Not at all. In fact, nearly half of our current trainees did not study law.

Q: My degree is not from an English institution - what should I do?

Check with the Law Society (www.lawsociety.org.uk) for further information on the steps you need to take in order to practice as a solicitor in the UK.
