How to apply
Online application
You can apply for a Vacation Placement and/or Training Contract by completing our online application form. If you wish to be considered for a Vacation Placement and a Training Contract please tick both boxes on the form. If you apply for a Vacation Placement and Training Contract and you are unsuccessful in gaining a place on our Vacation Placements, you will need to re-submit a new application form directly for a Training Contract.
If you are unable to complete an online application form, please contact Ann Lucy on ann.lucy@burges-salmon.com or 0117 902 2766 who will send you a pdf version of the application form for you to complete.
When to apply
We accept applications from penultimate and final year law students, final year non-Law students, graduates and those considering a change of career. Unfortunately we are unable to offer work experience for first year university students.
Application criteria
Candidates must have a minimum of 300/24 points at A-level and a 2:1 or above in any discipline at degree level. If you did not achieve these results but you feel that you can offer something that will make your application stand out, then please apply and we will, of course, consider your application. You should be aware however, that competition is extremely fierce and you will be competing with candidates who have achieved the required standard.
Successful candidates are motivated and hardworking, with a high degree of commercial acumen alongside a genuine enthusiasm for the law. They must show evidence of a strong academic background as well as significant achievements in non academic pursuits which demonstrate an ability to build relationships with both clients and colleagues.
Tips for completing the application form
- Take care to complete all sections of the form
- Make sure all spelling is correct
- Do not repeat our brochure in your answers
- Try to let your genuine personality come across
