Secondments and Pro Bono
We encourage the undertaking of secondments, either to the legal departments of major client companies, or with other law firms based internationally. Secondments offer new perspectives on the profession, involving a mix of cultural and legal education which benefit your overall development as a lawyer.
Our most recent project involves an exchange programme created for qualified solicitors practising internationally. It is currently running between ourselves and one of the top US firms, but we plan to extend the programme into other countries thereby broadening the range of experience available, and the development of further international links.
In addition to secondments and fee earning work, trainees have the opportunity to get involved in a considerable volume of Pro Bono work.
Our activities in this area include advising and acting for the Drug Addiction and Recovery Agency, Bristol Neurological Unit, and the Bristol and Avon Enterprise Agency. In addition, our trainees train and supervise students who run the Bristol University Law Clinic, which offers free legal advice to those who require it.
