Rachael joined Burges Salmon in October 2006 having previously worked at Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer since 2001. Rachael was seconded to The Royal Bank of Scotland's structured asset finance group (from September 2005 – March 2006). Rachael works in the Banking and Finance Group and specialises in the follow practice areas:

Her work focuses on asset based financing, with a particular emphasis on transportation finance and she has experience of several management buy-outs, secured lending arrangements both on a syndicated and bilateral basis and asset backed financings. Recent examples of work include:
- advising Merseyrail on the debt financing of a wheel lathe for their depot in Kirkdale
- advising M Baker Recycling Limited on debt finance facilities on their management buy-out together with pre-delivery payment finance arrangements and subsequence debt finance for certain plant and equipment
- Advising a Bayern LB-sponsored conduit on the renewal of a £750 million residential mortgage securitisation
- acting for Milklink on the £75m refinancing of certain secured facility arrangements
- advising Nationwide on a number of property finance transactions
- advising Ilchester Cheese on the refinancing of certain acquisition facilities
- advising FirstGroup on the £43m lease financing by a major bank of non-rolling stock assets over several of its franchises
- acting for A-Gas on its secondary management buy-out assisted by Close Brothers Group
- acting for RBS on working capital facilities being provided to certain investment funds
