Jeremy joined Burges Salmon in 2006 to lead the IP Litigation and Sports teams. Jeremy has extensive experience in all areas of contentious and transactional IP including trade marks, patents and copyright. He has also worked considerably in the areas of sponsorship, merchandising, advertising and sales promotion, sport and internet issues and has been involved in a number of leading cases and transactions in this area.
Recent IP litigation experience includes:
- Representing the Harrods Group on international brand protection issues.
- Representing numerous clients including Harrods and Discovery Channel, Virgin Mobile and on domain name recovery proceedings.
- Acting for clients including FMC Corporation, Discovery Channel and CMC Markets on trade mark oppositions.
Recent transactional IP experience includes:
- Advising Gunn & Moore on its sponsorship of international cricketing players including Michael Vaughan, Marcus Trescothick, Herschelle Gibbs and Stephen Fleming.
- Advising Discovery Channel on numerous new product/channel launches in the UK.
- Acting for Orla Kiely on numerous international licensing arrangements.
- Acting for Pentland Brands Plc (Lacoste, Ellesse, Speedo, Brasher and Kangaroos) on international brand management issues.
- Advising a number of clients on global IP registration and strategy issues.
Before joining Burges Salmon Jeremy was head of the UK IP practice at DLA Piper.
Jeremy is a member of most leading IP organisations including CIPA, ITMA, MARQUES, AIPPI, PTMG and ECTA and is a Committee Member of the INTA. He is recognised as an expert in trade mark law by Chambers, "Who's Who Legal" and "World Trade Mark Law Report".
Jeremy is a regular speaker and writer on IP issues and is a guest lecturer on the Oxford University IP Diploma course.
