Encryption for mobile devices

Following reports of recent thefts of laptop computers containing personal information, the ICO has recommended that portable and mobile devices used to store and transmit personal information should be protected using approved encryption software.
The ICO warns that enforcement action will be taken in cases where encryption software has not been used to protect data and losses occur. As encryption standards are constantly evolving, the ICO recommends that data controllers ensure that what they use meets the current standards.
