Changes to DPA

The Information Commissioner has published a paper in which he requests changes to the Data Protection Act 1998, including new inspection powers and increased penalties for serious non-compliance. 

The proposed changes are likely to be of particular concern to organisations which process significant amounts of data, such as the NHS or telecoms companies. However, the paper is not yet the subject of a consultation process.
