The NHS has announced that, together with a small group of companies, it is supporting a review to prevent unauthorised individuals from accessing patient information held in electronic records. The review will primarily target people who try and talk their way into being given access to such confidential data. A key safeguard which the nHS wishes to enforce is that the identity of any person who is requesting confidential patient data, together with their relationship to the person whose information has been requested, is properly validated.

The NHS have announced that they have put in place rigorous controls to ensure that their patients are adequately protected.
