New Budget proposals tackle tax avoidance within procurement process

Budget introduces new proposals to assess tax compliance during procurement processes. After recent high-profile examples of businesses avoiding tax in the UK, it came as no surprise to see last week’s Budget contain new proposals to restrict the ability of companies that avoid tax from winning public sector contracts.

On 8 November 2012 the Cabinet Office published a new Procurement Policy Note on how the past performance of bidders should be taken into consideration in future government procurements.
