Sale of Gatwick Airport for £1.5bn

Burges Salmon advised the Competition Commission on the corporate aspects of the sale of Gatwick Airport for £1.5bn which was announced on 21 October 2009. We provided corporate law and transaction-specific advice. Our team was led by partners Nick Graves and Alan Barr and senior associate Jennifer Myram, and included Andrew Dunlop (Outsourcing), Graham Soar and Cara Sykes (Banking).

BAA has agreed to sell its 100% interest in Gatwick Airport Limited to an entity controlled by Global Infrastructure Partners for £1.51 billion (approximately €1.66 billion)

The transaction is expected to be completed on 3 December 2009.

We did not provide competition law advice which was handled by the Competition Commission.

BAA's legal advisers were Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer and Herbert Smith. Slaughter and May acted for the purchaser.
