Time off for Training
21 February 2011
The Government has announced that it will not extend the right to request time off for training to all employees in April 2011.
The right to request time off for training was introduced in April 2010 for those employees employed by organisations with 250 or more employees. This was due to be extended to all employees in April 2011. However, following consultation, the Government has decided to delay extending the right to employees employed by small and medium sized employers to allow further time to examine the potential impact on smaller companies.
Employers with fewer than 250 employees do not, therefore, need to introduce procedures to allow employees to request time off for training in April.
