REACH Immediate Obligations

Pre-registration of substances under the EU REACH Regulation closes on 30 November 2008. If that deadline is missed, and if substances require Registration under REACH, they cannot legally be placed on the EU market until Registration is undertaken.  The total number of pre-registrations at 18 November 2008 has now reached 1,302,596.

UK national 'REACH Enforcement Regulations 2008' are expected to come into force on 1 December 2008. Criminal penalties will apply to contraventions of listed REACH provisions. 

Obligations are now in force for EU and EEA suppliers of articles containing substances on the Candidate List of Substances of Very High Concern at a concentration over 0.1% to provide information to customers and consumers. The first 15 substances on the Candidate List have been announced.
