Ross joined Burges Salmon in 2004 having trained, qualified and formerly been a partner at Allen Overy. He is Head of the Environment and Planning Unit.

His work focuses on advising companies and businesses on environmental compliance, both in relation to their day to day operations and in all types of corporate, banking and property transactions. He specialises in environmental projects particularly in the renewable energy and waste sectors. Examples of work include:
- advising Nuon on its successful Forestry Commission Wales wind farm procurement and the resulting build out of 2 major windfarms totalling 300+ MW
- advising major companies on defending Environment Agency action under the UK's new clean-up regime in relation to the UK's largest ever contaminated land site and on Scotland's first ever contaminated land regime claim
- advising on the Allington Plant generating 35 MW of electricity and processing over 500,000 tonnes of waste per annum
- advising Prenergy Power in developing the UK's /Europe's largest biomass renewable energy plant (300MW)
- representing and defending a variety of major companies in environmental prosecutions and civil environmental claims.
