Paula joined Burges Salmon in 2007 from Bond Pearce in Devon. Paula trained and qualified in employment and tax at Bird & Bird in London.
Paula works in the Employment, Pensions & Incentives group and specialises in:
- share schemes, phantom and cash bonus arrangements
- employment tax, including salary sacrifice
- employee benefit trusts
Paula advises on all share-based incentives including HMRC approved schemes, EMI options and tax-efficient unapproved arrangements. She deals with employment tax matters, (e.g. termination payments) and handles the share schemes aspects of corporate transactions.
Examples of recent work include:
- advising AIM-listed clients on the implementation and operation of Share Incentive Plans, Company Share Option Schemes, LTIPs and Sharesave/SAYE
- advising an NYSE listed client on the share scheme aspects of UK acquisitions
- designing EMI arrangements and performance targets for private companies to help them achieve their commercial objectives
