Burges Salmon client and regeneration specialist, St. Modwen, has completed its development agreement with Taunton Deane Borough Council for the regeneration of  16.5 acres of land at Firepool in Taunton.  The project is valued at around £270 million.

The scheme will include over 500,000 sq ft of office space, more than 500 homes and leisure and retail accommodation.  It is thought that between 3,500 and 4,000 jobs will be created over an estimated 12-year period.

Rob Skelston, development director at St. Modwen South West/South Wales, said: “Firepool is a fantastic opportunity to create a modern commercial centre that will attract new businesses into the area and benefit the town as whole.

"We already have a proven track record in the South West working on similar brownfield regeneration projects and creating sustainable urban developments."

David Gidney, head of real estate development at Burges Salmon, said: "We are delighted to have acted for St. Modwen on this major project and wish St. Modwen and Taunton Deane Borough Council every success."

Andrew Rothwell of Ashfords represented the Council.
