The award winning Real Estate group at leading UK law firm Burges Salmon has advised clients on three separate real estate development projects which have captured awards at the Insider South West annual property industry awards.

The Real Estate group, currently holders of two of the UK’s premier national real estate awards, worked closely with the winners of three of the most coveted categories.

Regeneration specialist St Modwen and the Homes & Communities Association (HCA) picked up the award for Property Deal of the Year. A site at Locking Parklands, Weston-super-Mare is set to become a visionary, sustainable community providing homes, jobs and community facilities. Headed by partners Ross Polkinghorne and David Gidney, the Burges Salmon Real Estate Development team advised long-standing client St Modwen with David Gidney leading on the transaction itself.

Office Development of the Year went to Horizon House on Deanery Lane, central Bristol. The Real Estate Development team, again with David Gidney leading on the transaction, also acted for Westmark Developments in connection with the construction and subsequent leasing of the BREEAM excellence-rated building, which has now become the Environment Agency’s new national headquarters.

Finally, the pioneering National Composites Centre (NCC) at the Bristol and Bath Science Park received Industrial Development of the Year for the outstanding results delivered by the combined development team in a very short timescale. The Real Estate Procurement team, led by partner John Houlden, advised the University of Bristol and NCC on all elements of its establishment.  NCC is set to become a leading centre for technical innovation, working closely with industry.

Head of Real Estate, Richard Clark, says: “It is very satisfying to see these highly significant projects in our region receive the recognition they deserve and for the Burges Salmon Real Estate group to have played an active part in securing their delivery. The group provides real estate services throughout the UK to national and international clients, but it is always particularly pleasing to contribute to the success of market-leading projects locally.”
