Patrick joined Burges Salmon in 1990 from local government. He is a Legal Associate of the Royal Town Planning Institute, a member of the Law Society’s Specialist Planning Panel and a Higher Court Advocate for civil law.

- public local inquiry advocacy for 66MW Fullabrook windfarm proposal in Devon, successfully obtaining consent under s36 Electricity Act 1989
- CPO for public transport provision for 2012 Olympics
- Planning adviser to nationally significant underground gas storage/solution mining scheme
