Burges Salmon sponsors high profile rail industry event

Burges Salmon sponsored the event on 22nd April which was host to speakers Lord Adonis (Secretary of State for Transport), Theresa Villiers MP, and Norman Baker MP (Shadow Secretaries of State for Transport). 

Burges Salmon partners Simon Coppen, Richard Walford and Chris Jackson attended the breakfast, and were accompanied by guests Mary Grant (MD of First Group), Michael Roberts (CEO of ATOC) and Vince Lucas (Service Delivery Director of South Eastern Railways).

The event, which begins with the traditional Simpson’s full English breakfast, was extremely well attended, with the speakers providing some high quality debate and the guests posing interesting and probing questions.

Topics discussed included the future of passenger franchising, funding cuts, the reform of Network Rail and likely developments in industry regulation. All speakers emphasised the importance of rail in future transport strategies and the need to continue to invest in major infrastructure improvements to further develop the network.
