The award-winning Real Estate team from Burges Salmon has appointed Sally Jupp as partner.
The appointment of Sally, effective from 1 May 2016, takes the team's number of partners to 12 making it one of the largest in the UK legal sector, with a team of nearly 90 acting on all real estate related matters for a wide range of clients.
Sally joined Burges Salmon in 2003 as a trainee and qualified into the Real Estate department in 2005 where she currently works. Sally specialises in real estate finance and corporate restructuring and insolvency for investment and development lenders. Sally's work focuses on supporting clients in the banking sector, both on lender and borrower led transactions. She has substantial experience of advising financial institutions and borrowers in relation to corporate lending transactions, both on a syndicated and bilateral basis and has completed secondments at Nationwide Building Society in both origination and recoveries roles.
Some of Sally’s recent work includes:
- Advising a US Senior Debt Fund in relation to the refinance of a portfolio of 30 commercial and residential properties in London to an Isle of Man borrower.
- Advising Lloyds Banking Group on the real estate aspects of its £108 million investment and development facilities to a leading developer and operator of crematoria and cemeteries in the UK.
- Advising an overseas company in relation to the refinance of its central London investment property with HSBC Bank plc.
- Acting for a leading Islamic Bank in relation to a £20 million real estate investment loan using Murabaha facilities.
- Acting on the enforcement of Nationwide's security in appointing PWC via Luxembourg as Administrators of the main Yorkgate Shopping Centre in York and thereafter acting on its management and redevelopment.

Burges Salmon’s Real Estate group was recently named Real Estate Team of the Year at the Legal Business Awards 2016. It received this accolade for the work it carried out advising the sellers of the AUB UK Student Accommodation Fund on the sale of the sharia compliant fund to the Unite UK Student Accommodation Fund (USAF).
