The Private Client team from Burges Salmon has been shortlisted in the Private Client Team of the Year category at the forthcoming Legal Business Awards 2015.

The Legal Business Awards recognise the outstanding work from across the legal profession and acknowledge the accomplishments of the finest lawyers currently working in the UK and beyond. Hosted by key legal sector publication Legal Business, the awards are consistently favoured by the industry's leading lawyers as the most prestigious and highly respected awards on the legal calendar.

The last 12-18 months have shown a continued trend towards increasingly complex and high value work, represented not least by the standout transaction for the team this year – which was the advice the firm’s International Wealth Structuring team provided to a private banking client on its acquisition of the international wealth management business of a large financial organisation. The acquisition represents a major step forward in the client’s global growth strategy. This was the largest transaction of its type handled by a UK private client legal team, with its complex, multi-jurisdictional nature demanding access to our specialist knowledge of international trust law.

Burges Salmon Private Client partner, Jim Aveline, commented: “We are delighted to have been shortlisted for this award, which we feel reflects the ongoing growth of the team, the work that we undertake for our clients and in innovative approach that we have to providing client service.”

Winners of The Legal Business Awards 2015 will be announced at an awards dinner at the Grosvenor House Hotel, Park Lane, in London on 24 March 2015.

The Burges Salmon Private Client team acts for high and ultra-high net worth individuals, private banks, trust companies and family offices across the UK and in a number on international jurisdictions from its offices in London and Bristol. This year has seen the team consolidate its position as one of the UK’s top private client teams. The team now comprises nine partners and 21 lawyers out of a total of 350 lawyers in the firm. The team is in growth mode, the goals being to expand and win the very best and most complicated tax and private client work. In the last two years, he team has appointed three new partners (Jim Aveline, Sarah Hoskinson and Suzanna Harvey).
