Burges Salmon advises Mapfre Asistencia

Burges Salmon has advised Spanish insurance company Mapfre Asistencia on its acquisition of InsureandGo, the biggest online provider of travel insurance in the UK.
The Burges Salmon team was led by corporate partner
Nick Graves together with
Dominic Davis (Senior Associate) and
Jonathan White (Associate). Earlier this year
Tim Pope (Senior Associate) also advised Mapfre Asistencia on the new underwriting arrangements which were put in place with InsureandGo.
The wider team included
Nigel Popplewell (Corporate Tax), Juliet Warren providing advice on regulatory matters, James Green and Rebecca Brocklebank assisting with employment matters and Charles Clarke (Real Estate).
Established in 2000, InsureandGo was set up with the main aim of providing convenient, low-cost travel insurance to customers quickly and easily. Since then Insure & Go has grown rapidly and now insures over 2 million people every year.
InsureandGo has won many awards including ‘Best Customer Service’ and ‘Most Trusted Travel Insurance Provider’ at the Moneywise Customer Service Awards 2009.
