Burges Salmon amongst top 50 innovative law firms.

The 2010 FT Innovative Lawyers report is published annually in October. This report looks at the firms and individuals who have led the way in the legal services sector and is now in its fifth year. During this period it has become one of the top legal rankings in Europe

This year, for the first time, Burges Salmon entered the FT Innovative Lawyer awards, placing five submissions in the process and gaining a top 50 ranking.

Out of those five, two received special recognition:

Our “Pay as You Save” scheme for "greening" UK properties, developed by the environment team, was highly commended in the Climate Change and Sustainability category. Whilst the helpline service implemented by our employment team for BAE Systems received a commendation in the Client Service category.

The scores received for our remaining three submissions counted towards the firm's overall score of 79 and an innovation score of 36.

  • Client services category: Farm Business Tenancies - producing new precedent packs for the firm's own use and for distribution to firms working with national agricultural land agents
  • Changing the Rules category: Barclays Wealth - bringing their advisors who deal with resident but non-domiciled clients up to speed on the reform of the residence rules and taxation of non domiciliaries.
  • Energy category: innovative work with the NDA to support the UK's nuclear build programme, provided by the energy team.
