Burges Salmon scoops best trainee recruiter award for a sixth time!
10 June 2011
Burges Salmon continues its reign as the UK's Best Recruiter for Trainee Solicitor recruitment (National/Large Regional Firm) according to judges at the annual Lawcareers.net awards. This is the sixth consecutive year the firm has scooped this award, seeing off rivals including DLA Piper, Pinsent Masons, Osborne Clarke and Bond Pearce.
Based on the views of several thousand trainees and newly-qualified solicitors questioned through an online survey, this result is proof that Burges Salmon's trainee recruitment programme is widely recognised as "one of the most professional and admired in the country," says the firm's recruitment partner Helen Scott-Lawler.
One trainee told the judging panel: "Even my high expectations of the firm were surpassed by its friendliness and attitude towards its staff, even in tough economic times." Another praised the firm for "really opening itself up on the vacation scheme and allowing me to get a real feel for what it would be like to work there."
One of the secrets of the firm's success is to offer a six-seat rotation on their training contracts, as opposed to the usual four. This gives trainees more opportunity to try out different areas of practice before they decide where to qualify.
"We conduct a formal review at the end of each recruitment cycle," continues Helen Scott-Lawler. "This allows the team to review feedback from candidates and talk through the full process in detail, refining selected elements and introducing new approaches or ideas for the year ahead.
"We are immensely proud of this continued achievement which is testament not only to the quality and dedication of our recruitment team, but the commitment shown by everyone in the firm to making the trainee experience truly best in class."
