Legal Week's annual survey, designed to identify the UK's 'Best Legal Employer', saw us perform well across a range of categories including high scores for the quality of our client portfolio and the level of interaction we have with them. Openness regarding career opportunities and co-operation between team members were also acknowledged by employees as being integral to the firm's culture. Plus, the office environment across both our Bristol and London offices was recognised as being first-class.

Overall, these strong results saw us move from number 42 in the table in 2010, to 22 this year - described by Legal Week as a 'dramatic assault' on the rankings. Burges Salmon's Head of Personnel, James Fountaine, said: "Valuing and investing in opportunities for our people is central to the way we do business, it is therefore very pleasing to see the firm increase its ranking in this way. In particular, we pride ourselves on the ability to fit our teams to every client's individual needs, and this can only happen effectively when there is a genuine culture of collaboration. Naturally, there are certain areas where there is still room for improvement, but overall we are pleased to see that our rankings reflect our position as a leading UK firm.
