Burges Salmon will be making a donation to St Peter’s Hospice in lieu of the cost of producing and posting traditional printed Christmas cards in 2011. An electronic card was sent out to clients and contacts during December, inviting recipients to choose from three charities: Parkinson’s Disease Society, St Peter’s Hospice and The Bristol Children’s Help Society.

St Peter’s Hospice – which is Bristol’s only adult hospice caring for local people with life-limiting illnesses – received the most votes and a donation will be made in the New Year.

Last year, the charity cared for more than 2,000 patients and supported more than 6,000 family members, including children. Eighty-five per cent of this care was provided in patient's homes and all of the care is provided free of charge.

A spokesperson for the Hospice said: “Thank you to everyone who gave us their vote. We are thrilled to hear we will receive this donation and it all helps us to care for our patients and their families.”
