Overview

Chris is a Partner in our Projects team, advising public and private sector customers and contractors on complex commercial transactions and projects, with a focus on the defence and nuclear sectors.

Chris' expertise includes commercial contracting, public procurement, PPP/PFI, alternative delivery models and outsourcing. He has in-depth knowledge and experience of:

  • key contractual issues that contribute to the successful delivery of complex projects, including incentivisation, allocation of cost, schedule and performance risk, project governance and control, and change management, and
  • commercial and legal issues associated with defence sector contracting, including in relation to the Single Source Contract Regulations, the Defence and Security Public Contracts Regulations and MoD DEFCONs and policy. 

Chris is a contributor to the Burges Salmon Guide to Nuclear Law (2nd edition) and has lectured on nuclear decommissioning contracting.

Experience
  • Advising the Ministry of Defence on the Skynet 6 satellite communications programme.
  • Advising the Ministry of Defence on the Astute and Dreadnought nuclear submarine programmes.
  • Advising multi-national defence contractors on projects in the air and maritime sectors, including in relation to the UK Military Flying Training Systems PFI project and the Type 26 Frigate programme.
  • Advising the Nuclear Decommissioning Authority on the Magnox and RSRL nuclear decommissioning programme.
  • Advising the Nuclear Decommissioning Authority on the disposal to the private sector of the Capenhurst nuclear business.
