Overview

Christopher joined Burges Salmon in 2005 having previously worked for a number of years as a real estate lawyer in Scotland. Christopher is part of a dedicated team of dual qualified lawyers working in Scottish real estate. Christopher is qualified to work in Scotland as well as England and Wales.

Experience
  • Advising a well-known bank in relation to the acquisition of a portfolio of property both in England and Scotland and the provision of a finance facility of £75 million.
  • Advising a variety of banks and financial institutions on the secured financing of commercial developments and investment properties across the UK including acting as lead associate for a syndicate of four leading banks providing finance facilities in excess of £200 million.
  • Advising on and negotiating options for leases for a number of leading wind farm operators (involving complex multi-landowner sites) including advising on access issues, agricultural tenancies and project funding requirements as well as undertaking due diligence on behalf of clients acquiring project portfolios.
  • Negotiating agreement for lease for a waste management plant that involved a multi-disciplinary cross-practice approach with provision of advice on planning and environmental issues.
  • Providing strategic advice to a number of banks in relation to borrowers in default including a £80 million facility agreement with an associated cross-border property portfolio.
