Overview

Colin joined Burges Salmon in 1999 and became a partner in the real estate team in 2006. He specialises in advising on the real estate aspects of investment, development and rail infrastructure funding projects.

Colin has more than 20 years’ experience in development and investment finance secured on commercial real estate assets, working with our integrated real estate finance team across the firm. He advises lenders on debt and property holding structures and due diligence for new lending transactions.

Colin is head of the Real Estate Insolvency Team within the firm's Corporate Restructuring and Insolvency unit, advising fixed charge estate receivers and administrators appointed by lenders on bankruptcy, restructuring, enforcement and sales.

Experience
  • Advising Lloyds Banking Group on the £50 million funding of the acquisition of a chain of serviced offices through a LuxCo structure.
  • Advising Lloyds Bank International in Jersey on the funding of a £30 million refinance of a single office site in London and Lloyds Bank International in Guernsey on a portfolio of 29 investment properties situated in England, Wales and Scotland using the in-house Scottish real estate team at Burges Salmon.
  • Advising a US-based investment fund on senior debt funding of a variety of A grade investment assets within greater London.
  • Advising RBS on investment and development funding in  the student accommodation sector.
  • Advising HSBC on senior debt investment funding for an industrial estate in Wales.
