Overview

Patrick's practice centres on energy (conventional, renewables and nuclear), waste, minerals and transport.

He advises on planning and compulsory purchase, property development, transport, environment, energy and utilities, renewables, resource and waste management, and nuclear.

Patrick is a Legal Associate of the Royal Town Planning Institute and a Higher Court Advocate for civil law.

He has authored chapters on new build and waste in the 'Burges Salmon Guide to Nuclear Law' (1st and 2nd Edition).

Experience
  • Providing planning and environmental assessment advice on radioactive waste management facilities and nuclear new build.
  • Public local inquiry advocacy for onshore windfarms across the UK, successfully obtaining consent for over 150MW of installed capacity under s36 Electricity Act 1989 and Town and Country Planning Act 1990.
  • Acting as planning adviser to a nationally significant underground gas storage mining scheme.
  • Advising on blight procedures for HS2 and overhead grid lines.
