Liz qualified into the Planning department in September 2004 following the completion of her training contract with Burges Salmon.
Liz's practice areas include:
- Advising on all planning issues
- Planning obligations and infrastructure agreements
- Planning appeals and judicial review, including appearing as a planning inquiry advocate
- Compulsory purchase
Liz's particular interests include renewable energy, telecoms and mixed use developments
Recent examples of work include:
- the preparation and submission of the application and supporting environmental statement to the DTI for a 66MW wind farm in the South West
- drafting and negotiating planning agreements for a section 36 public inquiry
- defending judicial review of s36 consents and wind farm planning permissions, including:
- R on the application of Finn-Kelcey v Milton Keynes Council and MK Windfarms Limited (CA)
- R on the application of Bailey v SoS for BERR and Prenergy Power (HC)
- R on the application of North Devon Council v SoS for BERR and Devon Wind Power (HC)
- successfully overturning a planning permission granted by Birmingham City Council on behalf of Orange PCS Limited
- drafting and negotiating section 106 and section 75 agreements for renewable energy projects
- advising on planning issues relating to the development of a community wind farm in Oxfordshire
- advising on the application and supporting environmental statement for wind turbine development in Avonmouth
