Carol joined Burges Salmon as Commercial PSL in 2000 having practised with Herbert Smith in London until 1991 before taking parental and study leave. Carol was appointed Head of Knowledge Management & Information Services in 2003 and her responsibilities include:
- supporting our knowledge sharing culture through appropriate practices and procedures
- developing and maintaining a comprehensive collection of legal and business resources
- considering client requests for access to information and KM support
- promoting best practice in the use of Professional Support Lawyer resource.
Carol's recent work has included introducing a firm-wide knowledge management system which allows our teams to search across all of the firm's knowledge and information resources from a single point. The system is based on the same product used by some of our key blue chip clients.
Carol is a regular participant on the KM conference circuit and maintains links with KM and IT contacts within and outside the legal marketplace. She recently won the Legal Technology Award for Regional Knowledge Officer of the Year 2008.
