Chris Brown

Chris Brown Senior Associate – Pensions

I joined Burges Salmon as a trainee solicitor in 2009. I loved studying in Bristol and knew I wanted to stay here to work.

I qualified in 2011, joining one of the leading (and largest) pensions teams in the UK. I work on substantial matters involving the Pensions Regulator and the Pension Protection Fund and have never felt being outside of the City has held me back. The team deals with pension schemes with millions (or some even billions) of pounds worth of assets.

Although I’m based in the South West, I deal with national and international clients on a daily basis and I can easily reach London by train when needed. The high calibre of work means my workload is always challenging and rewarding and the size of the team means it's easy to bounce ideas off others.

My wife and I have recently moved out of the city centre but I’m still only a half hour bike ride away from the office. We try to strike out into the countryside most weekends; the South Wales coast, the Mendips, the Cotswolds, Devon and Dorset are all within easy reach. My wider family is in South Wales and on the South coast, so Bristol is well-connected for me. When I want to stay closer to home, there is no shortage of distractions as Bristol is such a vibrant city with plenty of festivals, events and things to do on the weekends.

Burges Salmon offers top-quality, high-profile work and Bristol is a great place to live for a young professional.
