The Airmic Conference is one of the most important events in the calendar for the insurance and risk management industry.
The key themes emerging from the speeches, seminars and, importantly, our discussions with delegates were:
- The Insurance Act 2015: The Airmic leadership panel, chaired by Jonathan Dimbleby, raised a number of concerns, including a lack of preparation for the Insurance Act. These concerns were voiced by some delegates we spoke to. The Act comes into force on 12 August 2016 – are you ready?
- Cybersecurity: The dramatic real-time simulation of a cyber-attack on a fictional company raised some hard-hitting questions for board directors. Hosts Prof. Dr Marco Gercke and Peter Hacker noted that less than 10% of companies currently conduct a pre-incident stress-test before buying insurance. Are you aware of the risks, how to manage them and how your insurance would respond?
- Data Protection: Airmic CEO, John Hurrell, noted that risk is high on boardroom agendas. An increasingly important concern for companies is sufficient data protection. Are the key decision makers in your organisation aware of the data protection regime and the upcoming changes to the law?
