23 April 2018

The Awards champion the most inspiring businesses that are making a difference by taking action to build more inclusive workplaces, stronger communities and tackle the UK’s biggest environmental challenges.

Today’s announcement coincides with Responsible Business Week (23-27 April), an annual initiative aimed at increasing awareness of the positive contribution of businesses to society.

Burges Salmon has been longlisted for the Education Partnership Award for its ongoing work and education partnership with Fairfield High School.

A legal director in the Real Estate team at Burges Salmon and Community Governor at Fairfield High School, says:

“We have always worked hard as a business to maintain and improve the partnerships we have with local schools, charities and communities.

“The partnership we have built with Fairfield High School through Business in the Community has provided a real focus for the business in this area and as the governor link for careers and employability at the school I know the fantastic outcomes for students that have resulted from the initiatives that the two organisations have worked on together. The relationship is a great success and receiving this recognition speaks volumes of the commitment of the school to the partnership and the dedication of our people who really make a difference.”

Nick Lewis, Principal (Acting) at Fairfield High School comments:

“We’re delighted to be working in partnership with Burges Salmon through our link with Business in the Community. The collaboration has enabled Fairfield students to access high quality experiences of the skills they need to succeed in the real world. The staff at Burges Salmon have contributed to Fairfield being one of the top achieving schools in the South West. With the support of the firm we are extending opportunities that allow our young people to aspire and flourish.”

Chief executive of Business in the Community, Amanda Mackenzie, comments:

“More than ever businesses are expected to play their part in creating the society we all want. We are proud of Burges Salmon who has been longlisted for the Responsible Business Awards 2018 for its work in helping build healthy communities with successful businesses at their heart.”

The winners of all ten categories, including the Responsible Business of the Year will be announced at the Responsible Business Gala Dinner at the Royal Albert Hall on 3 July, in front of 1,200 business leaders.
