Burges Salmon is Legal Partner for the forthcoming Construction News Developer Forum, which is taking place at The Bloomsbury Hotel, London on Wednesday 20 May 2015.

Construction News’ inaugural Developer Forum will provide the opportunity for developers, contractors and the construction supply chain to gather in one place. The Forum will enable attendees to address key points such as what the future private investment hotspots will be, the economic drivers behind this, where developers will focus their priorities and pipelines over the next five years, and what is needed to ensure the supply chain is available and committed to deliver future projects.

Burges Salmon’s head of Construction and Engineering, Marcus Harling, will be taking part in a panel discussion, along with Argent and Battersea Power Station Development Company, looking at where procurement strategies will lead in an increasingly competitive market. The session will focus on a procurement model that locks-in quality and fosters innovation and efficiency; keeping costs down and ensuring schemes remain financially viable; competitive procurement strategies for contractor selection in a boom and bust industry with availability and resource challenges; alternative procurement methods; the risk-averse culture at the procurement stage; and collaborative working and alliancing.

Marcus said: 'We are pleased to have a presence at this key Development sector event and are looking forward to participating in the exploration of pipeline projects, and taking part in the discussion around what is needed from the supply chain to meet future demand.

'Our development and investment clients include The Crown Estate (advice on St James’s Market redevelopment), the Greater London Authority (advice on the 650 hectare Royal Albert Docks regeneration), Aerium (advice on various development projects), and Skanska so to have the opportunity to address the critical issues facing the industry, including future development opportunities and best practice, at this Forum will help us continue to deliver an excellent service to them.'
