Chris is an experienced business crime lawyer who advises companies and individuals in respect of investigations concerning bribery and corruption, fraud, money laundering, market abuse and insider dealing, cartels and other financial crime and regulatory matters. He also advises clients in relation to financial crime compliance policies and procedures.  

Chris has represented clients across various sectors such as financial services, retail and technology in respect of investigations conducted by enforcement agencies including the SFO, FCA, NCA, HMRC, CMA and CPS. 

He has considerable experience at the coalface of criminal litigation in proceedings before the Crown Court, Court of Appeal and High Court and he has extensive expertise in undertaking investigations involving multiple jurisdictions to resolve multi-faceted corporate crime issues for clients with a global presence.

Chris has also prosecuted civil regulatory cases on behalf of professional regulatory bodies and he uses this experience, along with his criminal litigation expertise, to undertake private prosecution work on behalf of corporate and individual clients. 

Additionally, Chris has experience in health and safety matters, particularly when there has been a fatality in the workplace. He has represented clients in corporate manslaughter investigations conducted jointly by the police and HSE as well as the subsequent coroner's inquests.



  • Advising on investigations by the Serious Fraud Office (SFO) including representing a former senior director at Tesco who has prosecuted by the SFO.
  • Advising  a senior individual at Barclays who was investigated by the SFO in relation to transactions between Barclays and Qatar.
  • Advising on investigations conducted by the Financial Conduct Authority, the National Crime Agency, Her Majesty’s Revenue and Customs, the Competition and Markets Authority, the Health and Safety Executive and police investigations.
