Elsa is an environmental solicitor within the firm's projects team, advising clients on a wide range of environmental and energy efficiency issues. These include regulatory obligations (such as environmental permitting and compliance with EU regimes), criminal and civil environmental claims and transactional projects in the waste, water and energy sectors. 

Elsa is co-convenor of the South West regional group of the UK Environmental Law Association and is a native French speaker.

  • Representing a major regional water and sewage treatment company in respect of environmental permitting compliance in a regulatory investigation.
  • Providing on-going advice and support to a float glass manufacturer in relation to regulatory compliance of its European operations (including in Luxembourg and Spain).
  • Advising a Japanese automobile manufacturer on the application of the Restriction of Hazardous Substances (RoHS) and the End of Live Vehicles (ELV) regimes.
  • Advising a multinational manufacturer of medical supplies in respect of contractual agreements to be entered into in the context of obligations under the Registration, Evaluation and Authorisation of Chemicals (REACH) regime and advising the European Commission in respect of the application of REACH to banning microplastic beads.
  • Advising a major charity in respect of various threatened nuisance and negligence claims (in particular for flooding, water pollution and subsidence).
  • Acting for Local Authorities and Councils tendering waste management contracts to private contractors, including: advising on the effectiveness of draft contracts and re-drafting as necessary, liaising with consultants and coordinating input from internal team.
  • Advising commercial landlords on the legal implications of waste offences carried out on their land, including drafting relevant witness statements in relation to criminal proceedings.
  • Acting for a developer in a prosecution under the Conservation of Habitats and Species Regulations 2010.
  • Advising public authorities and private companies in relation to obligations under the Environmental Information Regulations 2004.
  • Advising on the applicability of the Energy Savings Opportunity Scheme Regulations, notably to a corporate group of automotive companies operating in the UK.
  • Advising on environmental law risks (including the contaminated land regime) and preparing appropriate contractual protection in corporate and real estate transaction.
  • Providing specialist input in due diligence for commercial transactions, including environmental and commercial due diligence of a suite of contracts for the acquisition of a private water and sewage provider which involved an in-depth review of connection agreements, developer agreements, bulk discharge agreements, and bulk supply agreements.
