Mel is a solicitor in the firm's projects team. He joined the firm in 2016 as a trainee solicitor and qualified in September 2018.

Mel has experience advising both public and private sector clients on a broad range of projects. In particular, Mel has experience advising on energy and infrastructure projects and negotiating commercial contracts. 

He has gained in-house experience as a solicitor with Amazon in Luxembourg. This involved negotiating high value B2B agreements for the purchase of goods. As a trainee, Mel also completed a secondment at EDF Energy.

Mel graduated from Queen's University Belfast with a degree in Law and a Master's degree in Law and Governance. He received a distinction in the LPC.

  • Led client side on a £500m transaction for Amazon to supply goods and services to public sector bodies in the UK via public sector buying organisation, YPO.
  • Acted for clients such as EDF Energy and Bristol Airport on the negotiation of commercial contracts.
  • Advised Amazon on a £200m contract to sell to one of the world's largest intergovernmental organisations.
  • Advised on the £2,900,000 alternative delivery model for children's services for Reading Borough Council.
  • Advised on the funding and development of a 100MW battery energy storage project.
  • Led the legal work streams on high value public procurement projects in multiple international jurisdictions including France, UK and Italy.
