Overview

Sarah is an associate in the firm's projects team, having joined as a trainee solicitor in 2013 and qualified in 2015.

Sarah has a wide range of experience with a particular focus on providing regulatory and contractual advice on environmental, low carbon and wider energy projects.  

On the energy side, Sarah advises developers, investors and funders on the development and operation of energy assets including grid connection issues, supply licensing, incentive regimes, regulatory compliance and wider contractual arrangements.

Sarah's environmental experience spans advisory, transactional and litigious work. She advises clients on managing regulatory and contractual environmental risks in areas such as the contaminated land regime, waste duty of care, nuisance and product stewardship.

Experience
  • Acting for Gravis Capital Partners on the acquisition of a 70 MWP portfolio of operational wind farm assets in England, Scotland and Wales, in particular advising in relation to energy incentive regimes, regulatory and contractual issues.
  • Acting for a major train operating company on the appeal of an abatement notice served in relation to alleged statutory noise nuisance at a rail depot. 
  • Secondment to the energy investments team of Octopus Investments Limited, providing advice to the asset management and investments facets of the fund manager business on a wide range of issues across various renewable energy and transport technologies.
  • Advising Wave Hub on contractual arrangements and operational issues in relation to its offshore wave energy testing facility.
  • Acting for a port company on the defence of a multi-million pound claim for compensation arising from coastal erosion allegedly caused by the construction of a new harbour.
  • Advising a utility on aggregation arrangements with a major supermarket for participation in providing demand and frequency response services, including in respect of the Capacity Market regime.
  • Advising the Nuclear Decommissioning Authority and International Nuclear Services on matters relating to the transport, storage and reprocessing of spent nuclear fuel.
  • Advising the administrators of an industrial site occupier on liabilities and risks under the contaminated land regime and potential redevelopment options for the site.
