About

Chris is the firm’s Senior Partner and joined the firm as a trainee in 1991, having previously served as an officer in the Royal Navy for 11 years. As Senior Partner, Chris chairs the firm’s Strategic Board, which is responsible for setting the strategic direction of the firm.

He was the head of the firm’s International Committee before taking up his role as Senior Partner in 2017, and has been a member of the Strategic Board since 2011.

Chris continues to practise as a partner in the Employment team and was head of the firm’s employment practice from 1998 until 2011. He deals with the full range of contentious and non-contentious employment work, advising employers and senior executives in both public and private sectors on the complete range of employment issues.

He acts for a large number of multinational clients and advises on cross-border employment issues as well as coordinating employment advice across a wide range of jurisdictions. Chris also advises Boards of FTSE 100 companies on executive/reputational issues.

Chris is a frequent speaker at national and international conferences, and has been recognised as a leading practitioner in both Chambers UK and Legal 500 for many years.

  • FTSE 250 Company: Handling complex discrimination claim and advising on reputational issues.
  • Defence Contractor: Advising in relation to multiple TUPE claims.
  • Multinational US based Company: Setting up European Works Council and advising in relation to union recognition.
  • International US based Company: Advising on restructuring and redundancies across 10 jurisdictions.
  • LLPs and Partnerships: Advising on discrimination claims and partner exits in legal and financial sectors.
