Mairi is a professional support lawyer within the Pensions & Lifetime Savings team. With over 17 years’ experience as a pensions lawyer, she now keeps the Pensions team up to date with ongoing pensions regulatory, legislative, and case law developments. This includes preparing weekly pensions updates, delivering team training, assisting with technical research, and helping the team respond to technical client queries. Mairi works to create precedents for the team which help increase efficiencies and demonstrate best practice. In addition, Mairi assists with drafting our pensions newsletters, promoting the team’s profile.
Before moving into the PSL role, Mairi worked for the Scottish Government as Sponsorship Manager for Scotland’s care service regulator, assisting with the fulfilment of statutory duties and obligations. Prior to that, she worked at Pinsent Masons and Brodies as a Legal Director and was regularly recognised by the legal directories.
Mairi has experience in public sector pensions, covering public service pension schemes and the pension aspects of public sector outsourcing and TUPE transfers. She has worked on several high-profile private sector transfers of Broadly Comparable schemes to the Principal Civil Service Pension Scheme and has advised several household contractors on their Fair Deal pensions obligations.
