ResiCheck, our innovative tax App, has been launched to help Burges Salmon clients – at no cost – work out whether they are tax-resident in the UK.

The App is designed to help clients understand the UK’s Statutory Residence Test. Users complete a simple questionnaire and receive an instant indication of likely residence status, along with a more detailed explanation. The app can also be used to plan future residence and keep track of UK visits, with this information emailed directly to the user.

Features of ResiCheck include:

  • Test past residence for completed tax years
  • Plan future tax-residence
  • Record UK visits
  • Easy-to-follow flow chart
  • Glossary of terms

Developed by the firm’s Tax, Trusts, and Family team, and guided by the Innovation team, the ResiCheck App helps clients work through the challenges that come with knowing and recording their tax residence. Please see the video below for more details.

"Burges Salmon’s ResiCheck App is an excellent starting point for considering one’s residence. No App can deal with all the uncertainties and lacunae in the SRT but it is quite amazing how many of its complexities it summarises without over-simplification."
Simon McKie and Sharon McKie, authors of the leading textbook "McKie on Statutory Residence (2014)"

ResiCheck is available for free for clients of Burges Salmon. For further information or to request access, please email ResiCheck@burges-salmon.com.
