Burges Salmon has advised Craigard Care Limited and its joint administrators, Tom MacLennan and Graham Smith of FRP Advisory, on the pre-pack sales of Craigard Care’s business and assets, as operated from three care homes based in the North East of Scotland.

Each of the sales is expected to fully complete after the Care Inspectorate concludes the re-registration process required for a change in the ownership of the home, at which point the staff will also transfer to the new owner. Pending completion, the proposed purchaser of each home is managing that home on behalf of the Administrators.

Founded in 1996, Craigard Care was headquartered in Aboyne, Aberdeenshire. Between them, the three care homes have capacity for 111 private rooms with ensuite facilities and provide a complete range of care services including the provision of specialist nursing, dementia, respite and palliative care.

The Burges Salmon team advising on the deal was led by director Amy McVey, alongside partner Emily Scaife and associate Emily Cranston, from the firm’s specialist restructuring team, with support from James Green, Christopher Bartlett, Sarah Stewart, Ian Carnochan, David Varney and Matthew Loader.

Amy McVey comments: “We are very pleased to have assisted Graham and Tom from FRP Advisory on this significant sale which is excellent news for residents and staff.”

Graham Smith, from FRP Advisory, says: “The planned sale of the three homes is fantastic for residents, staff, suppliers and the local communities that depend on these important facilities. We are also delighted that 165 jobs are set to continue when the proposed sales complete and wish Parklands Care and Renaissance Care every success with their plans.”
