Independent UK law firm Burges Salmon has advised not-for-profit care provider Somerset Care Group as it continues to grow its portfolio of purpose-built, specialist care homes, with the acquisition of the award-winning Green Tree Court nursing home, based in Exeter.
Celebrating its tenth anniversary this year and rated as ‘good’ by the Care Quality Commission, Green Tree Court complements Somerset Care Group’s services in the region and supports the organisation’s commitment to supporting and meeting high levels of care dependencies across the South West.
The Burges Salmon team advising Somerset Care Group was led by real estate director Paul Doherty and corporate and M&A associate Chris Doherty with support from the wider healthcare team including corporate partner Jonathan Eves and solicitor William Davis, real estate senior associate Katherine King and partner Patrick Parkin and solicitor Lisa Mulholland who advised on contract and regulatory matters.
Paul Doherty comments: “We’re pleased to have guided Somerset Care Group through the next phase of its expansion plans. The transaction builds upon our expertise in the healthcare sector, where we’ve continued to see high levels of activity with clients in the sector making targeted and ambitious investments to broaden their services for the good of the communities they serve.”
Chris Wall, Somerset Care Group’s Interim CEO and Finance Director, adds: ”We have seen care needs change dramatically in the three decades since Somerset Care was established, with a substantial increase in those requiring specialist nursing care or expert dementia support. Welcoming Green Tree Court to the Somerset Care Group enables us to continue to grow and diversify our care offering to meet the region’s current and future care needs. We would like to thank Burges Salmon for bringing clarity, insight and expertise to the acquisition process, helping us to support even more people to live the life they choose."
