Chris Simms Partner

Chris is a partner in the firm’s rail team, the largest team of specialist rail lawyers in the UK. Chris joined the firm in 2017 from his previous role as the head of legal and compliance at Abellio. Prior to this, he spent five years as an in-house legal adviser at the Office of Rail and Road.

Chris has extensive experience of advising on complex rail infrastructure projects and the rail regulatory framework.

• Extensive experience of advising on franchise bids and mobilisations for rail operators and, most recently, Transport for Wales.
• Advising on a number of fleet procurement projects including West Midlands Trains and Transport for Wales.
• Advising in relation to a range of rail depot and infrastructure upgrade, including a project to secure significant beyond-franchise private investment in the redevelopment of a depot for a UK franchised operator.
• Providing ongoing operational support to franchised operators, including the implementation of major projects.
