A Procedural Guide to Judicial review and Statutory Challenges

In the last webinar of our 2021 Planning and Compulsory Purchase webinar series, we turned our focus to judicial review claims and statutory challenges including covering current procedural best practice such as electronic filing, the perils of challenge periods, the scope of challenges and the future of the regime. The session, which was presented by Sarah Sutherland (senior associate), Daniel Whittle (associate) and Hannah Mannion (solicitor) focused on practical tips from our extensive experience as well as pitfalls to be aware of from recent case law.

The story of s106 agreements

In our third interactive webinar of 2021, we looked at the detailed story of a s106, from heads of terms in the officer’s report, the extent of land and parties being bound and use of conditions to the detail of obligations and interaction with other agreements. Sarah Sutherland (senior associate) and Anna Coyle (solicitor) presented the session which focused on practical tips from their extensive experience in the team as well as pitfalls to be aware of from recent case law.

Town and Village Greens – a Constraint on Development

In our second webinar of 2021, we considered recent Town and Village Green cases and discussed the practical implications for developers and landowners arising from these cases. Sarah Sutherland (senior associate) chaired the session, and was joined by colleagues Cathryn Tracey (senior associate) and Jen Ashwell (senior associate). There was also an opportunity to ask questions in a Q&A session.

In this webinar we look back at the key planning cases in 2020 in relation to the Town and Country Planning Act 1990 regime, with a particular focus on practical tips for both local authorities and developers. We highlight what we consider to be the seminal cases from last year and discuss the implications for the planning industry.
