Burges Salmon has been appointed to the Scottish Environment Protection Agency’s (SEPA) legal services panel to provide legal advice and advocacy services on corporate and operational matters relating to its functions.

The Scottish Environment Protection Agency (SEPA) is Scotland's principal environmental regulator and flood risk management, forecasting and warning authority. It is a non-departmental public body of Scottish Government with a unique and visionary statutory purpose - to protect and enhance Scotland’s environment in ways that, as far as possible, create economic and social success. Its innovative strategy, ‘One Planet Prosperity’, is focused on helping Scotland transition to a successful, sustainable economy.

Burges Salmon opened its Edinburgh office in 2019 to support its successful and long-standing Scottish practice and the appointment by the national environmental regulator is testament to the firm’s ongoing commitment to the Scottish market.

Joanna Monaghan, director in the firm’s Corporate Finance team and based in the Edinburgh office, says: “The appointment to SEPA’s legal panel is significant recognition of the firm’s commitment to the Scottish market and the successes of the Edinburgh team as we continue to forge partnerships with key institutions across Scotland.”
