Mary Gaskins, a director in Burges Salmon’s Family Law and Divorce team, has qualified as a family mediator.

Mediation is a powerful tool for minimising and resolving conflict in family law disputes.  For the right clients, mediation can be an extremely effective way to reach resolution on difficult and emotive issues.  It enables the clients to remain in control and offers flexibility that other dispute resolution routes cannot always offer.

Mary is one of the few family lawyers in the South West offering mediation services for high net worth cases and/or cases with complex assets. She also has a niche specialism in cohabitation cases and farming cases. Mary also mediates cases regarding children arrangements and feels that mediation should always play as big a role as possible in children disputes.

As a practising family lawyer with over 14 years’ experience, as well as being a qualified mediator, Mary deals with family law cases on a day-to-day basis and knows how the law is being applied in the courts. This enables her to approach her mediations with up-to-date legal knowledge as well as provide a realistic insight into what the alternatives might be if an agreement cannot be reached in mediation.

Mary can provide online mediation or in-person in Bristol and London.  She offers co-mediation and sole mediation.
