Overview

Gareth is a senior associate professional support lawyer in the firm’s Banking and Finance team.

His responsibilities include the following:

  • Development and facilitation / delivery of the Banking and Finance team’s technical legal training programme
  • Assisting with business development and client relationship management activities and initiatives, including delivering external training and authoring legal updates
  • Updating and maintaining the Banking and Finance team’s legal precedents and know-how resources
  • Ensuring that the lawyers in the Banking and Finance team are up to date with legal and industry developments and providing support on technical legal matters and developments

Prior to becoming a professional support lawyer, Gareth advised on a broad range of domestic and cross-border matters in a variety of sectors.  His experience encompassed both loan origination, in particular corporate and leveraged finance and real estate finance, and distressed situations involving financial restructuring, contingency planning and formal insolvency.

Experience
  • Advised administrators from Grant Thornton on the administration of Quinn Radiators Limited, including the sale of part of the business.
  • Advised Santander on the provision of senior facilities to support the restructuring and growth of the national taxi operator Veezu.
  • Advised administrators from FRP Advisory on the trading administration of aerospace composite manufacturer Tods Aerospace, resulting in the sale of part of the business to Cobham.
  • Advised Kreos Capital in relation to debt facilities for the venture capital backed challenger banks Monese and Bnext.
  • Advised Tiger Infrastructure Partners on its £30m investment in Stellium Data Centres, the operator of one of the largest purpose-built datacentre campuses in the UK.
  • Advised ICG on a £17m facility to finance the acquisition of a Jersey property company which owns a shopping centre in Leeds.
  • Acted for Portobello Starboard, a pub operating company backed by leading private equity firm Zetland Capital, on a £40m facility from OakNorth Bank to allow it to grow its portfolio.
  • Advised the founding shareholders of Omlet, the fast-growing pet accessories brand, on the debt aspects of the investment by private equity firm Piper.
