As a longstanding supporter of The Grand Appeal, the Bristol Children’s Hospital Charity, Burges Salmon is proud to once again sponsor the much-awaited Gromit Unleashed 3 trail.

Following the success of the award-winning Gromit Unleashed and Shaun in the City arts trail, which have generated £20 million for Bristol Children’s Hospital since 2013, Gromit Unleashed 3 brings everybody’s favourite pooch, Gromit, and friends to the streets of Bristol and runs from 30 June to 31 August.

Lovingly crafted by talented artists, more than 50 giant sculptures of Aardman’s classic characters are taking over the city and, for the first time ever, this year’s sculptures celebrate the world of storytelling and film, with each character reimagined in spectacular designs. Burges Salmon’s sponsored sculpture this year is ‘Wednesday’ as Feathers McGraw, with a unique sculpture, based at Bristol Temple Meads, created in collaboration with and inspired by Netflix’s hit series.

Roxanne Folke, head of responsible business at Burges Salmon, says: “Gromit Unleashed has captured the hearts of people from across the UK and we’re thrilled to support this year’s unique art trail once again, marking our firm’s ongoing partnership with The Grand Appeal. Our involvement is helping to raise vital funds for Bristol Children’s Hospital and we’re immensely proud to contribute to such a meaningful cause.

“We look forward to welcoming Wednesday as Feathers McGraw whose beautiful design and signature deadpan look is sure to bring smiles to children, their families, and passers-by this summer.”

Founded in 1995, The Grand Appeal has raised millions to save lives and support sick children and their families at Bristol Children’s Hospital, helping to fund pioneering, life-saving equipment and research, including ventilators, a cardiac hybrid theatre and an inter-operative MRI scanner. The charity also provides free accommodation to families of critically ill patients through its three home-from-home facilities and ensures the hospital is a vibrant and child friendly place to help distract young patients through music therapy, art and play programmes and much more.

Bristol Children’s Hospital is one of the UK’s leading children’s hospitals treating patients from across Bristol, the South West, South Wales and beyond. It treats more than 140,000 children each year, serves as the paediatric intensive care centre for the whole South West region and covers the largest geographic area of any children’s hospital in England.

Nicola Masters, director of The Grand Appeal, adds: “Aardman and Bristol go together like cheese and crackers, so we are ready to roll out the red carpet for another spectacular edition of Gromit Unleashed! This time, Gromit Unleashed 3 will bring the glamour of the silver screen as well as the magic of tales, fables and stories to the streets of Bristol. Since 2013, Gromit Unleashed has generated more than £20 million for The Grand Appeal, thanks to the enormous generosity of the Bristol public. We hope to raise more money for Bristol Children’s Hospital, helping to save lives and support sick children from across the South West of England.”

Burges Salmon prides itself on being a pillar of the community with the firm working as a collective with its people, clients and communities to champion and deliver projects with real social value impact. Across the UK, the firm collaborates with over 60 charities and community groups, providing financial contributions,  pro-bono advice, volunteering and in-kind support.

As one of the first founding sponsors of Gromit Unleashed back in 2013, Burges Salmon’s partnership with The Grand Appeal supports the firm’s charitable theme, Fairer Futures for Young People, with the firm working across its communities in Bristol, Edinburgh and London to support education, health and wellbeing and social mobility projects and help tackle homelessness and food poverty amongst young people.
